  2. Anne, yes glad you share your Agatha haunts and sites w/us here in the good old US of A.

Anne, sounds like a lot of stuff in the house - These objects belonged to Agatha? Which was your favorite room in the house?

  3. Patricia - I think I have to say her bedroom - its very well done with the wardrobe open and you can view her clothes and there are a couple of suitcases.

Of course, also the mural in the library - and the hall is great as is the dining room - in fact its very difficult to pick a favourite

  6. Anne, her clothes would tell a lot about her times, style, and tastes. I don't think she ever wore slacks or trousers in any photos. I was surprised she took a bathing suit photo (correct me if wrong) - but then again these were personal photos.

  8. Anne, do you recall any particular photo or painting on the walls? I heard she collected China figures. Do you know if she decorated the house herself or have someone else do it. (There is photo where she is paiting the fireplace mantel.) Also, have you seen her other houses?

  9. Anne, re-read your post about her bedroom and her suitcases being there, I find this a bit 'strange' for lack of a better word, as suitcases are not things one would store in a bedroom but more like a basement, or storage area (as they are not used very frequently). Now I have to wonder who's idea it was to place the suitcases in the bedroom and why?

  10. Patricia - there is a kind of big walk in wardrobe (which you can't walk into. Displayed in there are racks of her clothes and one of the outfits is on show on a dummy plus there are a stack of suitcases there. I guess it was just to give authenticity to the room and also to give the impression that she still lives there. That is my take on it anyway!

Regarding photos on the walls I really can't remember but will be going again and making lots more notes. The house was in a really bad state of repair before the National Trust took it over. I don't think Agatha was too keen to spend money on the decor of the houses once she had bought them. She loved buying them but not the upkeep of them! I have seen the blue plaque on one of her houses in London and the back of the house in Wallington - but both many years ago and i have no photos of them - it was back in the day before digital LOL

  11. Anne, I can just picture - racks of Agatha's own clothes and suitcases in her bedroom - all so 'personal'. I think you are right the suitcases tell the visitor that she was a world traveller. I wished they had let you take one or two photos, though.
